What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic care is based on the fact that the human body is a self-regulating, self-healing organism. The human body is its own pharmacy -- with no side effects.

In its proper working state, your body can defend itself against illness and disease, and can even repair damage already done. But for the self-regulating and self-healing mechanisms to work properly, the central components to make this happen (the brain, spinal cord, and nervous system) must be functioning correctly.

Just as the skull protects the brain, the moving bones of the spine protect the vulnerable communication pathways of the spinal cord and nerve roots. If your nervous system is prevented from doing its job, a malfunction of the tissues and organs in your body will occur.

Chiropractic care focuses on:

1) Determining what spinal structures are "malfunctioning" (and thereby impeding the nervous system's function)

2) Mobilizing those spinal structures to reduce the damage they are doing to the central nervous system

3) Keeping spinal structures in proper working order, so the nervous system can transmit the proper signals to the rest of your body, allowing its natural healing systems to take effect
