Chiropractors are primary care physicians, and one of only five professions authorized to use the title of "Doctor". Chiropractors focus on restoring proper spinal biomechanics, thereby improving nervous system function and allowing the body's natural healing and regulating systems to work properly.
Starting with a thorough case history to get a complete background on past health, allows your Chiropractor to get an understanding of your current state of health. From there, a discussion of the problem with you, is followed by a thorough orthopaedic, neurological, and Chiropractic examination. X-rays may also be taken to uncover structural and functional problems associated with the spinal column. these exams help identify areas of spinal problems that are causing nervous systems malfunctions.
From here, your Chiropractor will recommend the best course of action for your individual condition. If Chiropractic adjustments are deemed necessary, progress is monitored with periodic examinations and follow-up reports.
The term "Doctor" also has a historical meaning, that of "Teacher". That is why you will also find that your Chiropractor has a strong commitment to educating each patient on their individual spinal health.
