As with other professional occupations, a Chiropractic Doctor has a programme of undergraduate and then professional study. After a minimum three years undergraduate study in qualifying sciences (pre-Chiropractic study), eligible candidates are accepted into an accredited Chiropractic College. The vast majority of Chiropractors actually complete a full undergraduate degree before entering their professional Chiropractic studies.
Once their 4-year Chiropractic degree is completed, they must pass a demanding National Board Examination before receiving their Doctor of Chiropractic degree. Then, to be able to practice, they must apply to the government or professional licensing board and pass an even more demanding qualifying test in order to be granted the privilege to practice Chiropractic medicine.
Even as practising Doctors, most Chiropractors complete postgraduate instruction to retain their license to practice Chiropractic treatment, and to be able to offer their patients the most up-to-date care available.
