Chiropractors are "primary contact" Health Care providers, which means you don't have to be referred to them by a physician or anyone else. You can select your own Chiropractor.
As with any other professional, referrals from friends and acquaintances are an excellent way to find a good Chiropractor. The Yellow Pages can also come in handy to help you find one in your area. There are over 5,000 Chiropractors in Canada. Another way is to use the CCA's own Chiropractor Locator.
No matter which way you find a Chiropractor, you should always feel free to ask them as many questions as you have. Don't simply accept treatment from the first Doctor you speak with -- no matter how much pain you are in. Ask to see their credentials, ask them about their training, their style of treatment, their belief in Chiropractic's place in overall healing, etc. From these questions, you should be able to tell how caring they are and if they will suit your needs. In the end, chose a Chiropractor that is right for you and fits your needs, after all, this about your health, not theirs.
