In his time outside of his practice, Dr. McAllister enjoys spending time with his wife Cassandra and daughter Natasha. It is this balance of family and professional life that has been the great source of his joy and well-being.

Dr. McAllister believes in living what he teaches, and is a wonderful example of how a career choice made so many years ago can improve the life of someone who he didn't know would exist back then, but now couldn't imagine his life without -- that of his daughter Natasha.

Natasha has Cerebral Palsy, developed from a very traumatic birth, and was rendered a quadriplegic and non-verbal in her motor abilities. She does not suffer from any comprehension or mental deficit and is integrated into the normal grade 3 curriculum at Jean Little Public School in Guelph. What is amazing about her is her positive attitude and her understanding of always applying her abilities -- rather than focusing on her disability. She is an amazing young lady, and a daily reminder to her mother and father that we should always focus on the good in everything we do.

Natasha is under regular care by her father, both in the Back to Basics clinic, and at home with vigorous co-ordination and exercise therapies such as her Hart Walker. She has also recently undergone an exciting new treatment called Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT), which has had a significant effect on her motor co-ordination and strength. Her parents plan to continue with her in this therapy throughout the year 2000 in the hopes of greater gains to come.

Dr. McAllister and his family also enjoy biking, indoor spinning classes, in-line skating, ice skating, swimming, and running. And the Doctor also enjoys the benefits of Karate, regular strength training and stretching.

It is no secret that life is to be enjoyed - but you must enjoy every day or you will miss out on so much. Life is too short to focus on the bad things -- live to overcome, live to enjoy.

There is a simple philosophy that Dr. McAllister and his family live by, enjoy each day as though it will be your last, and enjoy all the pleasures this life has to offer. They would like to extend their sincerest wishes that everyone has the greatest of all health & happiness.
